The NVQ Level 2 Hairdressing course consists of a number of mandatory units plus four optional units.

Mandatory units cover reception duties, consulting and advising clients, shampoo and condition hair and scalp, developing and maintaining effective team work and relationships plus supporting the health, safety and security of the salon environment.

Optional units include, amongst others, cutting hair using basic techniques, perming and neutralising hair, style hair using drying and setting techniques, changing hair colour using basic techniques.

Students are given individual training plans, then continually assessed both in the salon and on theory work. There are assignments to complete. Salon visits are included in the course as are written papers (City & Guilds) and written/oral questions. At the end of the course a City & Guilds nationally recognised qualification is achieved.
